Biography
- Audrey Cienniwa
- Baroque cellist Audrey Cienniwa has appeared on diverse concert series, including Les nuits musicales de Corps (France), the White Mountain Bach Festival and King’s Chapel (Boston). A former student of baroque cellist Hidemi Suzuki, her playing was described by the Boston Musical Intelligencer as “an exquisite effect”. Her recording of the Bach Viola da Gamba Sonatas on the Whaling City Sound label was recently selected "CD of the Week" by KBAQ Radio (Phoenix, AZ) and praised for her use of vibrato being "like the human voice...you really do have a sense of...what Bach intended." She plays regularly with Newport Baroque and Exsultemus and has appeared with other groups, including Pro Musica, the Oriana Consort, Sine Nomine, the Providence Singers, the Concord Choral and Orchestra, the Musica Maris Orchestra and the Ecclesia Consort. She is on the faculties of Providence College and the Music School of the Rhode Island Philharmonic.
